About
The Mont Thabor Château, a 17th century building, belonged to the Marquis de Vaucroze. Don Pernety, the founder of the Visionaries’ sect of Avignon, who was in search of the philosopher’s stone, famously stayed there. After a tumultuous past, the Château became a stopping place for carriages on the road between Paris and Marseille. In 1881, the Swiss family STEHELIN bought the estate to develop the vineyard, it remains in Stehelin family hands today.
